We sat down with Madeleine Cordukes of Slinga Fitness to find out a little bit more about February’s Business of the Month
What does your business do/ offer?
Childcare-free Postnatal Fitness Classes. I specialise in babywearing fitness classes, as well as offering circuits, boot camps, running groups, personal training & more. I emphasise not only the importance of physical health, but also mental health with social time included in each class
What made you set up on your own?
Being a single parent, I wanted the opportunity to work flexibly with my daughter
What have you found the biggest challenge to date?
How much it takes over your life so having to prioritise when to work, and when to have a break
What do you find most rewarding about running your business?
I love my job! I have the most wonderful customers & thoroughly enjoy working with them; it is wonderful watching the little ones grow too. I love getting feedback and how Slinga Fitness can have such an impact on their postnatal experiences
What makes North Tyneside a good place to run a business?
I have lived all over the UK but I love it here. It is a brilliant place to live for families which is my audience and offers great locations for classes too!
What one piece of advice would you offer to somebody looking to set out in business?
BUSINESS PLAN! Know what you are doing and use resources you have available to you like The Business Factory. I already had a degree in business & management so I knew what to do, but the Business Factory offers you a reassuring step, encouragement and support to see you through.
